Bosque del Apache

Situated about 20 miles south of Socorro, New Mexico, in the Rio Grande Valley, Bosque del Apache is a managed nature reserve for the many thousands of Ross and Snow geese that head south from the Tundra during winter. It also serves as an over wintering location for tens of thousands of Sandhill Cranes that escape the freezing winter of Northern Canada.

These images were taken on a number of winter visits to the location over a ten-year period and are intended to give a small insight into both the birds, their behaviour and the adopted habitat.
